Rachel Tovell

Specialist Speech & language therapist

I have a strong belief in the importance of developing effective communication skills in order to promote wellbeing. With this passion in mind, I trained as a speech and language therapist, qualifying in 1994. Since then I have worked in Norfolk and Suffolk in a variety of settings, such as pre-schools, nurseries, primary and secondary schools and a specialist language unit.

I have experience and skills in supporting children with a range of speech, language and communication needs, including speech and language delay/disorder, verbal dyspraxia, and social communication difficulties. I am also trained to provide Talk Tools therapy for oro-motor (muscle-based) speech difficulties.

I currently work part time for East Coast Practice where I enjoy working collaboratively with parents/carers, educational staff and other professionals where appropriate, to provide thorough assessment, advice and therapy, tailored to the individual needs of each child. I also continue to practice within the NHS where I manage a team of therapists and assistants, and provide specialist assessment, advice and therapy
